At Bombshell we practice the highest standards of sanitation which means no double dipping! Double dipping is a common practice in many salons...using the same stick over and over again. This can contaminate an entire wax container...this is a serious health risk. No worries here!
For any wax service to be effective, the hair needs to be about a quarter of an inch long, which is generally the equivalent of 3 weeks of hair growth. This especially applies to 1st time clients who have been shaving....we can't wax stubble. It gets better and better each time you wax. The hair will release much easier and will begin to thin out. When the hair grows back, in it will be softer then if you shaved....very nice. For best results, get on a regular schedule of 4 to 5 weeks.
There are some contraindications for waxing. No-Nos:
For the face area, we can't wax you if you have been using any retinol products...Retin A, Renova, Differin, etc. These products thin the skin which makes waxing a bad idea.
If you have been using Accutane, you can't wax anywhere. You need to be off this medication for at least a year.
Have a sunburn...recent laser resurfacing or chemical peel...no dice.
No caffeine before your wax...especially for Brazilians...it enhances your pain receptors. Take Advil or ibuprofen 30-45 min before your service. If you are a real scaredy-cat, we have a product called "No Scream Cream" for purchase. This is a topical numbing cream that you will need to apply a half hour before you get waxed. It works for most people.
Its also a good idea to gently exfoliate your bikini line the night before your Brazilian. This will get rid of any dead skin build up and will greatly reduce the chances of ingrown hairs.
After your Brazilian, may we suggest "FINIPIL." This is an antimicrobial topical cream that you rub on your waxed bits. It will keep the fresh waxed area smooth and bump free. We give you an exfoliating glove with your 1st Brazilian, so make sure you are using that with every washing.
We understand that sometimes a visit from "Aunt Flo" might make you shy about your waxing appointment. Have no fear we deal with this every day! You might be slightly more tender but don't forget "No Scream Cream" & some sort of pain relief does wonders!
