Before Your Appointment

You should always exfoliate the day of your airbrush spray tan to open up your pores allowing them to fully absorb the tanning spray allowing for the proteins of your skin to react with the DHA (the active ingredient in airbrush spray tanning solution) to form the desired golden brown color. Additionally, we recommend avoiding soaps which contain a high pH level as this is known to cause the unwanted orange effect. Lastly, avoid deodorant, moisturizers or body lotions on the day of your appointment as the tanning solution can mix with them leading to streaks. 

During Your Appointment

Our airbrush tan expert’s recommend any client receiving a spray tan wear dark, loose clothing. Wearing fitted clothing may disturb how your skin absorbs the spray tan solutions. It is up to you if you choose to wear undergarments during your session. Disposable underwear is available upon request. If you are having the solution applied to your face, do not apply lotion, moisturizer or wear makeup the day of your appointment. Also, remove any jewelry before beginning your sunless tanning session. After the spray has been applied, take a moment to ensure the tanning solution is rubbed into your skin well, especially in-between your toes and fingers, as well as your cuticles to prevent streaking. 

After Your Appointment

Avoid showering, taking a bath, swimming, using a sauna, or performing any activity that may cause you to sweat for at least 8 hours after your appointment to allow the DHA within the spray tan solution to fully set. The longer you wait to shower, the darker the final result should be. For 7-10 after your appointment, we highly recommend using unscented soaps, lotions, and moisturizers with a low pH to help your radiant tan last longer. Also, avoid exfoliating and shaving for as long as possible. Exfoliation removes the top layers of skin which will cause your spray tan to “fade” faster. If you are worried about staining your linens, such as bed sheets or pillowcases, our experts recommend applying baby powder all over your body to help keep the skin dry. To further protect your fake tan, and your skin, use sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UV rays and drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
