Even though how the Brazilian got its name is one of the more popular waxing questions we get here at our beauty lounge in Vegas, it’s not the only question that we hear from clients just like you. Here are some of the most common questions regarding the Brazilian Wax:
What is the difference between a bikini wax and a Brazilian bikini wax?
This is probably one of our most popular questions here at Bombshell Las Vegas. Essentially, the Brazilian removes all of your unwanted hair “downtown” while the bikini wax only removes hair from the top and sides. Whether you get a regular bikini wax or really treat yourself with a Brazilian, the choice to leave a landing strip, or any other shape, is always up to you. Just let your esthetician know at the beginning of your session.
How can I prepare for being waxed?
In general, we recommend your pubic hair be at least ¼” long, which is typically the equivalent of 10-15 days of regrowth. If your hair is just stubble, it will not be long enough for the wax to grab, making it impossible for us to leave you completely bare from the waxing process. Does waxing cause my hair to grow back coarser, thicker, or darker?
This is just a myth. Waxing, shaving, tweezing, or any hair removal methods will not cause the hair to grow back any differently than it did before it was removed.
Does getting a Brazilian Wax hurt?
Honestly, the amount of pain or discomfort experienced during the waxing session varies per person, and can even vary per appointment for the same person. If this is your first time, you will feel more discomfort than someone who has been getting waxed on a regular basis (every 4-6 weeks). For most, there is a sting when the wax strips are first pulled, but the irritation usually goes away within a couple of hours to one day after your treatment.
If your skin tends to be sensitive, we recommend wearing loose underwear and clothing the day of your appointment. Additionally, you should exfoliate before your waxing session to remove any dead skin cells, which will usually make waxing more pain-free. The best way to ease the pain you feel while being waxed is to remain consistent with your waxing sessions.
